Yesterday Jeff and G dismantled his crib to make way for G's new big boy bed! Graham was a fantastic helper and loved working side-by-side with his dad using screwdriver, holding up pieces of the crib and dragging them away into our room.
But... we felt a bit sniff, sniff! about the whole thing. He's definitely not a baby any more! G was SO excited about his big boy bed though and did pretty well on night 1. He slept well though the night though we did have to go up three times initially to give him extra cuddles. We came in around 11 p.m. to gaze at him and hug each other, marveling at how quickly it all changes.
We told him that he needs to stay in his bed all night and to call us if he needs us (this will obviously change once he's potty trained). So far he has really stuck to it! This morning he called for us, "Mama, Dada, I'm awaaaake," just like he usually does. But once I went in, he didn't want to get out of bed! So I snuggled in with him (it's nice to have a twin bed so we can fit in alongside him) and we read books for a while.
Unfortunately, he refused to nap today (frustrating) and tonight he asked me to lay with him until he fell asleep, which he normally doesn't ask for. It's easy and oh-so comfortable to snuggle with him, so I certainly didn't mind... and I fell asleep, too. :) I think he'll get back to his good sleep habits with a bit of adjustment time. Then it's onto potty training and getting rid of those pacifiers! No small tasks...
Enjoy the pics of the tear-down/set-up!
